Grading Assessments

Grading Assessments

Unless the assessment contains an essay question, BrainHoney automatically calculates assessment grades based on the correct and incorrect answers identified when you create the assessment. If an assessment contains an essay question, the document icon displays in the Gradebook to inform the instructor that an item is waiting to be graded.

All Grading is done in the Gradebook for the course.

To open the Gradebook for the course, click the Navigation hat to select the course and then click on the Gradebook link in the header.

Click the document icon in the Gradebook grid for the student and assessment. The grading page for the student's assessment displays.

Review the essay question on the assessment.

Assign a score to the essay question.

As soon as all the essay questions have been scored, BrainHoney calculates the assessment grade. Review the assessment grade.

To send notes back to the student, click the Add notes button, and type your notes in the Notes box.

When you have completed grading the assessment, click Submit Grade.

Other Options

  • If you are not yet ready to submit the grade, you may click Save for Later. Your changes will be saved, but nothing is sent to the student or posted in the Gradebook.
  • If you want to excuse this student from this assessment, click the Excuse button. This assessment will be excluded from the student's average.
  • If this assessment does not allow multiple submissions, you may override that option for this student and allow him or her to retake the assessment by clicking the Allow Retry button. Any notes that you entered will be sent to the student. The current grade is kept until you modify it when the assessment is resubmitted to you.
  • Assessments can be curved using the Curve Scores feature, which can be accessed by clicking on the assessment from the gradebook, then setting the curved score to the new score desired.

Warning: If you click Close, no changes will be saved.
